Welcome!

The 2024 Zassenhaus Groups and Friends Conference – in Honor of L-C Kappe’s 90th birthday will be held at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. It will take place on the campus of the university from early morning of Saturday, June 1, 2024, to the noon on Sunday, June 2, 2024.

The conference will provide researchers in the US working in group theory and related topics a forum to disseminate their own research as well as to learn about new and significant results in the area. It will provide a particularly inviting environment to young mathematicians and will further cooperation and collaboration among the participants.

This conference is supported by NSF (DMS-2346615), College of Science & Engineering and Department of Mathematics of Texas State University.

Conference Registration and Funding Request

If you want to attend the conference, please register through the form at [link]  and indicate if you want to give a 20 minute talk.

We will charge a $40 registration fee (paid by cash or check in person) to cover some miscellaneous cost of the conference as well as the conference  banquet (on Saturday evening). We will waive the registration fee for students.

The local organizers have secured funding through NSF to support the   conference. The plan is to use those funds to help defray lodging and travel costs of some participants. Priority will be given students, recent graduates, and junior researchers who may have difficulty obtaining funding from their home institutions. They expect to provide support for about 30 participants. Because of this, we also need to collect some demographic information about participants who wish to be considered for support.

If you would like to request support, please fill out the third part of the registration form by April 12 to request funding; the demographic information will be needed for the decision and for the funding source. Funding decision will be made by April 15.
